Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall attend a viewing of the new Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. Prince Charles is the President of the Mary Rose Trust and has been involved with the ship ever since his first dive on the wreck back in 1974. The Mary Rose was a warship of the Tudor navy of King Henry VIII. She sank in the Solent on 19th July 1545 during an invasion by the French fleet. The wreck of the Mary Rose was rediscovered in 1971 and salvaged in 1982. The Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard is the new home to the warship, and some of the 19,000 artifacts that sank with her.
